    About the Course

    Across the world, many people with disabilities and reduced mobility are excluded from social and economic life due to inaccessible transport systems.

    Disability Awareness can bring a number of benefits to public transport companies. This short online course offers an introduction to Disability Awareness and will help you understand how to make your public transport services more accessible and inclusive of the needs of people with disabilities so they can travel independently and with confidence.

    It offers practical guidance on how to better understand and support passengers with different types of disability with video testimony, reading materials, presentations and quizzes.

    Learning Outcomes

    At the end of the course, you will be able to better understand:
    • ‘Disability’ as a complex and wide-ranging societal issue.
    • The wider business benefits of an inclusive transport environment.
    • The potential barriers faced by people with disabilities and ways in which these barriers can be removed.
    • How to create an environment that enables independent travel.
    • How to better understand and support passengers with different types of disability.
    • How to develop an effective company policy or action plan.

    Each module should take between 7-15 minutes to complete.

    Who is it for?

    The course is aimed at managers and senior drivers of bus and trolleybus companies in low and middle income countries.

    Certification

    EASST and EASST Academy do not offer academic credit but do provide a Certificate for completing this short course and final test.
